Not all heroes wear capes

Trail volunteers are the heart and soul of the Appalachian Trail.

Volunteer groups bear (pun intended) the day-to-day responsibility of keeping the trails we love open and clean. Repairing shelters, clearing trail debris, and educating visitors about Leave No Trace practices are only a few of the tasks these behind-the-scenes heroes perform.

31 official AT maintenance clubs span the entire Appalachian Trail. Learn how to volunteer, donate, or JOIN your local chapter below!
